KENOBI!!!

SPOILER ALERT

We’ve seen the Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and now one week in we’re about to see Kenobi so let’s analyse the trailer.

So if you don’t know already, the Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor comes out on the 27th of May 2022 and will consist of 6 episodes. Now here are some of my predictions.

In the trailer we see the Grand Inquisitor and his henchmen. Now, the Grand Inquisitor is from Utapau and was originally a temple guard at the Coruscant Jedi temple before he turned to the dark side and starts working for Vader. Unfortunately the Grand Inquisitor was one of the Jedi who succumbed to the empire and began to serve Vader as hunters who track down and kill any remaining Jedi. It’s actually a great link to Ahsoka Tano because in her novel (written by E.K Johnston) she does get tracked down by an inquisitor, the sixth brother. Although Ahsoka easily overpowers him and takes his lightsaber crystals as her own. Sadly, Ahsoka is unlikely to show up in Kenobi because of the timeline. During this time she would probably be on Thabeska and out of contact with everyone. Contradictory, she might because in her novel she does eventually communicate with Bail Organa who’s in contact with Obi-Wan. Which could mean she comes in in these episodes or maybe in a future season. I feel it would be heartbreaking for the two to never see each other again before they become one with the force. But of course that would be unlikely to happen.

Many inquisitors would be quite the fearsome opponent for Jedi who are only partially trained much like Kanan Jarrus or Ezra Bridger in rebels. However, some inquisitors are no match for fully trained Jedi as they have incomplete training themselves, since they have no real connection to the force. Although there are some inquisitors such as the grand inquisitor who are turned Jedi which do prove to be a dangerous enemy to make. So I’m quite intrigued to see them in the series because the time line does put Kenobi before rebels which means there is unlimited potential in the roles of the inquisitors, especially the grand one which would be cool to see since we don’t have too many confirmed details about him. I’m very excited to see the other inquisitors though as I really want to learn more about them.

Now back to rebels, my knowledge of the series really comes in handy here as it will be key to understanding all of the goings on in Kenobi. Because the time line means rebels is after Kenobi which means that Maul will not be making an appearance (unfortunately). It also means that the inquisitor system and the whole character of Vader is still relatively new meaning we could honestly get anything from this series. Which means my expectations are set high because I am expecting some brilliant battles and fight sequences from this. Including the much anticipated conflict between Kenobi and Anakin (the newly dubbed Vader). Since there is potential for anything to happen the fight is not going to happen straight away and is probably going to be built up until the finale which will either begin with a fight, end with one or hint at one in the next season perhaps. I definitely hope we have the epic face off in the final episode because that would be a brilliant way to finish things off and it would be quite the conclusion to the series and would hopefully tie up all that has happened in the episodes.

Overall I am still thrilled we’re getting a Kenobi series and since there’s so much potential here I really hope it doesn’t disappoint.
