Kenobi Series Analysis
The Kenobi series definitely exceeded my expectations as there were so many Easter eggs from the Clone Wars and it had such a good plot that had me hooked. Did you notice and link everything together? Do you have no idea how the Grand Inquisitor survived? Well let me reveal all the answers.
We should all be talking about Kenobi returning to the light, the path when all it took was the drive to preserve Leia and Luke’s future to send him into one of the most powerful sense of calmness we might have ever seen from Kenobi other than his previous fight with Vader. The absolute power and resilience he shows in this scene is absolutely insane, especially since he’s been living on a barren rock, having no connection or training to the force in 10 years. Not to mention how he hadn’t even touched his lightsaber and was shown to be incredibly weak at first but look at what a come back he has made.
Another thing for all Star Wars fans who’ve only seen the movies to enjoy was Aunt Beru’s protection mode as she just cocks her desert shotgun and says they can take on Reva alone. Beru has been through such a hard time since being married into the Lars and Skywalker family when she suffered the loss of many of her family members to Sandpeople raids so its been amazing to see such development from her.
A very tragic scene was when Anakin says, “I am not your failure Obi wan.”, because it shows how Anakin is still in there, how there’s still good in him and what little good he had left tried to assure Obi Wan that his fall to the dark side was not Obi Wan’s fault and that he shpuldn’t blame himself for it which really sets Kenobi free because these past 10 years, Kenobi has been blaming himself. Sure, Kenobi is partly to blame but it was sending him into such a downward spiral that he needed help getting out of. Leia and Anakin gave him that help he needed. This line so perfectly illustrates, more than anything else in star wars, that Anakin knows what he did. He knows what choice he makes everyday . Vader killed the light inside Anakin Skywalker, not Kenobi or anyone else. I killed Anakin Skywalker. Not to mention the lighting choices which so beautifully depicted the steak difference between good and evil which is a main theme through out the stars wars saga.
Something that had me so excited was the subtle mention of Quinlen Vos when Leia and Obi Wan are traveling through the path. Now if you haven’t watched clone wars or haven’t read Dark Disciple (which is a really good book I recommend it) then its likely you’ve never heard of Vos. So Quinlen Vos is a Jedi knight and a pretty powerful one too. He has a Jedi gift called psychometry which is the ability to use the force to see memories or visions that are attached to objects. To do this he must be touching the object and most of the time, actively searching for a memory but sometimes it will happen involuntarily. The reason its so amazing that Vos was mentioned is that this confirms he survived order 66 and that he’s out there, helping people. This means that we’re likely to see him in the future because he has such an amazing story that involves, Ventress and Dooku and he has such a great bond with Kenobi that I really hope we do get to see him in future projects.
Master Sinube is another little Easter egg from the clone wars. He is an old Jedi master who was in the episode ‘Lightsaber Lost’ as he helped Ahsoka track down her lost saber and teaches her the important lesson of patience. Its also Ahsoka’s first encounter with Aura sing so it’s a pretty vital episode for watching the rest of the series. So did you notice when Kenobi entered the Inquisitor’s chamber and saw all of the people solidified in amber that Sinube was there?
Another thing that a couple of Clone Wars fans may have picked up on was the parallels between Ahsoka and Vader’s fight in rebels to Kenobi and Vader’s fight in the final episode. The fact that Ahsoka and Kenobi managed to each cut away opposite sides of Vader’s mask in an attempt to free Anakin under the mask of Vader. Its heartbreaking because if they were together they would be able to free Anakin completely and its so tragic that they never got that chance. It also echoes the mortis arc in clone wars about how they’d be fine if they stuck together.
And of course something that left Star Wars Rebels fans stumped was when Reva stabbed the Grand Inquisitor and yet he survived, but how? Well the grand inquisitor appears in rebels which takes place after Kenobi so obviously he can’t die and yet it appeared he did before he came back in the final episodes and seemed just fine, no machinery like Vader but he wasn’t treated right away so surely he would have bled out? The answer is that he couldn’t have bled out because a lightsaber automatically cauterizes the wound and that his spieces is from Utapao and Utapaoans have 3 stomachs and Reva stabbed him through one. This means that he could survive since the wound may heal over time but it doesn’t affect his other organs.
In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed everything the Kenobi series had to offer and I can’t wait for the next Star Wars series!
