New Brighton Youth Market to showcase new generation of entrepreneurs

Wirral’s second ever Youth Market is coming to New Brighton on 18th May 2024.

Applications are now open to anybody aged 16-29 who has a product or service to sell and wants to have a free pitch at the market.

The initiative is designed to give young traders and makers the chance to launch a business within their local community. From crafts to baked goods, bespoke jewellery to graphic design, the market is open to young people with any level of experience.

This event will build on from the success of the first Youth Market at the Cherry Tree Centre, Liscard back in July which more than 3,500 visitors attended, and provides an opportunity for ambitious young people to showcase their entrepreneurial spirit.

It’s also a chance to launch their business, market-test ideas, or drum up local interest in their offer.

One business who did a roaring trade after the first Youth Market was Distinct Sportswear. The eco-friendly business, run by Harrison and Dom, both originally from Wallasey, was presented with the ‘Stand Out Trader Award’. Harrison said: “Interest at our stall was more than we anticipated - we were busy all day! It was great to meet like-minded young traders with a passion for success.

“Events like this are crucial for start-up businesses. I would strongly recommend other young businesses to get involved at future Youth Markets.”

Netty and Eva from Facepaint Fever also had a popular stall at the market back in July. Netty said: "As a local to the Cherry Tree, it was such a joy to see it booming like it was today.”

Another trader added: “My social media has skyrocketed and I have received two bookings for events due to conversations I had with customers.”

Visitors to the Youth Market will also be able to enjoy the many independent retailers, cafes and bars around Victoria Road, as well as a magnificent outdoor gallery of giant murals throughout the Victoria Quarter.

This event is funded through the Liverpool City Region’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation, managed by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, with further events planned later in the year and beyond.

It is completely free to apply and applications will be welcome from not only traders and makers, but also from performers who would like to have a presence on the day. This could be solo musicians, bands, choirs or dance troupes.

This market takes place on Saturday 18th May. To apply, please visit our website and complete the application form.
