Genshin 2.0 Release Review: Did They Get It Right?
With a similar style to Zelda, Genshin Impact is a free-to-play game that began in September 28,2020. Published by Mihoyo, you can play this game virtually anywhere from PlayStation 5 to mobile.
The game is about two sibling travellers being separated by an unknown god and depending on the sibling that you choose, you begin the journey to find your other half. Once you’ve met your travelling guide companion Paimon, you arrive at the city of Mondstadt and the journey hits off from there. You meet friendly faces and gods and then soon enough your next chapter starts at Inazuma.
When the Genshin Impact official Twitter account released a post on the 30th July 2021 about their new 2.0 update “The Immovable God and The Eternal Euthymia”, fans excitedly spread this news between the community on across all social media platforms.
The new update included the two new five-star characters, the cryo sword user Ayaka (“Frostflake Heron”) and the pyro bow user Yoimiya (“Frolicking Flames”) which individually both showed great damage on various different level enemies. Another character that was included in this update was the anemo claymore user Sayu (“Mujina Ninja”), which made her the first claymore user to have the anemo powers and the second 4-star anemo character following after Sucrose.
The update also included the ‘Project Celestia’ weapon series which allowed players to create more weapons for their playable characters.
In addition 3 new islands were released for the Inazuma region with the included characters and weapons. Narukami Island; Kannazuka and Yashiori Island opened players up to new materials being found that would allow people to collect for their respective characters and weapons.
The events of Genshin Impact 2.0 has some really memorable and cute moments like for example the ‘Lost Riches’ event where you go around the islands to find special coins to exchange for generous gifts such as Mini Seelies in the colours ‘Dayflower’, ‘Rose’, ‘Viola’ and ‘Curcuma’. Another memorable event that was occurring at the time was the ‘Thunder Sojourn’ which allowed players to complete mini challenges and be able to collect event game currency to buy the 4-star electro character Beidou, who is a claymore user. Some other events that were occurring at the time was the ‘Phantom Flow’ event which was an event that made you fight enemies under a certain time limit and allowed opportunities to collect rewards for primogems, enhancing materials and mora (the game currency used in Genshin).
Overall, the entire update had been refreshing for long-term players who had mastered the Liyue and Mondstadt ages ago, usually reaching the high Adventure Rank levels of 38-60. It allowed them more materials for their new characters to use in battles and even collect more primogems to be able to spend on banner characters. However, the experience wasn’t so great for new players as they were stuck trying to complete all the old story and quests to be able to get to Inazuma, missing their chance to be able to collect valuable materials. Personally, for me, the game has been amazing from the 1.4 update of Genshin Impact.
It was a relaxing and interesting way to spend my free time and I frankly enjoyed collecting primogems to be able to get 5-star characters! Most of the characters that I have acquired and began building like the 5 stars Kazuha and Zhongli have made my gameplay experience more enjoyable as they are some of the characters.
