I Ain’t Afraid of no Ghost

Finn wolfhard, Carrie coon and ecto 1

Ghostbusters is just one of those films that even if you haven’t seen it you know it. It’s kind of in our DNA when we are born. Everyone knows the song. ‘Who you gonna call'…’

This week saw the release of Ghostbusters Afterlife, the latest sequel to one of my all time favourite movies Ghostbusters.

Set many years after the events of Ghostbusters 2 with the original Ghostbusting team now retired and not speaking to Egon the film follows Phoebe (McKenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) who’s mum Callie’s (Carrie Coon) father has died leaving her a broken old house. Phoebe soon discovers who her mum’s Father was Egon Spengler one of the original Ghostbusters and finds that there are still ghosts left unbusted.

The film is a wall to wall blast of fun and nostalgia. Director Jason Reitman (Son of previous Director Ivan Reitman) takes us on a journey into the past told through the eyes of children who have no memory of the Ghostbusting 80’s.

The on screen chemistry of the latest ghostbusting team is outstanding and provides as many moments of hilarity as we saw in 1984 and mirroring it with moments of really heart and compassion that left me in tears. Twice!

If your like me and you like your ghost movies busted then be sure to check out what Ghostbusters Afterlife has in store.

Ghostbusters Afterlife is available to watch now in all Wirral cinemas.
