Railway Safety

What’s going on here then? Are they under arrest?

Learning about British Transport Police

On Wednesday evening this week the Merseyside branch of the British Transport Police visited West Kirby Youth Space.

The officers provided key advice to the young people on railway safety and shared tips on how to stay safe during Summer holidays. They discussed their roles and were happy to answer questions about their work on trains and within the wider community.

The officers explained the importance of purchasing tickets when using trains and how failing to do so may result in prosecution and the possible implications of this on their future.

The officers also talked about opportunities for young people (13-17yrs) to join the British Transport Police Youth steering group.

The young people all really enjoyed their visit and asked the officers to return again. The young people loved having a few selfies taken outside the Youth Space with the officers.
