In a night filled with glitz, glamour, and a strong sense of accomplishment, the annual first annual ZILLO Youth Awards took place at Pilgrim Street Arts Centre in Birkenhead on Friday evening, honouring and celebrating the remarkable achievements, talents and passions of young young people from across Wirral.

The event, organised by the ZILLO Young Reporters, aimed to recognise the outstanding accomplishments young people in Wirral are making in their lives, inspire others, and create a culture of excellence among young people here in Wirral.

Young people nominated for awards earlier this year and shortlisted nominees were invited with their families, carers, friends and mentors to celebrate at Pilgrim Street with a buffet supplied by Neo.

The awards kicked off with the first of two performances from local band Suits for the Pilgrims playing a stylish cover of The Beatles ‘Get Back’.

The awards spanned 10 categories, recognising achievements in areas such as mental health, the environment, creativity, sports, and social activism. Each category winner was chosen by ZILLO Young Reporters who carefully assessed the nominees' accomplishments and selected the winners.

The event concluded with a surprise award. ZILLO Young Person of the Year 2023.

This award was chosen by the invited guests who using their mobile phone chose one of the 10 award winning young people to become this years ZILLO Young Person of the year.
