GLOW at Eurovision

euro vision photography group

GLOW was lucky to get a grant to take a group of Wirral Young People from Pilgrim Street Arts Centre to photograph the spirit of Eurovision and the cultural heritage of Liverpool.

The young women took images that reflected the spirit and cultural heritage of Liverpool and how the city has embraced and paid tribute to the heritage of the Ukraine.  Also, they captured the spirit of Eurovision within the city taking images that show the unique style and fashion of Liverpool and Ukrainian people as they celebrate Eurovision, and the style and fashion of Eurovision visitors to the city.

They photographed on semi finals day, Thursday and had the best time.  Apart from that the sun came out as soon as we had made an emergency dash to buy umbrellas the kindness and friendliness of everyone really put the girls at ease.

The girls met and talked to Mel Giedroyc, Zoe Ball, Richie Anderson and one of the singers from Wild Youth and Steph Taylor ended the night being interview by Tia Kofi.

The grant was funded by Eurogrant and heritagefunduk and supported by Wirral Borough Council and Creative Youth Development.
