It’s National Smile Month 15 May - 15 June

Smile

National Smile Month is a charity campaign all about dental hygiene and promoting the value of a healthy smile.

Maintaining a healthy smile can be simple but for so many people this can be very difficult.

During National Smile Month there are four key messages for better oral health:

  • Brush your teeth for two minutes, last thing at night and one other time during the day, with a fluoride toothpaste.

  • Clean between your teeth every day (maybe with floss or dental sticks)

  • Cut down how much and how often you have sugary foods and drinks.

  • Visit a dentist regularly.

Many of you may have braces or retainers so it is extra important you also follow your orthodontist advice. Speak to your dentist of you are worried about your teeth or gums :)

Your mouth hygiene is important.

Look after your teeth as best you can, fresh breath and nice smile can only go in your favour!

‘Smiling is infectious’

A Poem by Spike Milligan

“Smiling is infectious, you catch it like the flu,

When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin.

When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile, then I realized its worth.

A single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected.

Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!”
